  • I totally agree with you. I understand the *wish* to have a safe space- but I found that it doesn't work. From what I have witnessed and expereinced it's one of the most unsafe places. But still people cling to it. and I have to admit, I have seen some lesbain spaces open up to evenrybody, and the straight cismen that went there behaved like shit. so I dunno what the alternative is.

  • I think my question, as a response, is why do lesbians want to be in "lesbian only" spaces? The only two times I have ever been assaulted is by lesbians in gay/lesbian spaces. These are not inherently safe just because people claim them to be "safe." They are quite the opposite. They are fraught with identity policing and with the silencing of voices from within their communities that question/challenge oppression perpetuated by other lesbians.
