@nickguitarsw lol id love to know where you bought that for $700 bucks! in the UK the japanese models are around £600, including all extras, and the USA models cost £999, with only a gigbag and some paperwork!
i prefer the heavier USA models but with exactly the same specs, and with a brilliant hardcase to boot, id recommend the Jap models anyday of the week.
having said that it would definitely be work getting the USA ones at $700 and buying a hardcase!

@Renots024Young ive played both, the USA model is slightly heavier, but thats the only thing i think is better than the jap made ones (most people prefer lighter guitars though!)
and the japanese modesl come with SKB molded hardcases, which are totally excellent! but the USA models only come with Gigbags! where is the logic there haha!
other than that the specs are totally the same, the only upsides are the weight (for me) and the wider range of finish options!

I've already ordered a Japan so cal lol but I think I might try and find a USA San dimas when I got the cash. I find it really ignorant that people aren't even willing to give the Japan made a try
That's a good way of putting man, thanks for the input. I think the MIJs are a better deal though (cheaper and you get an skb case)

@Renots024Young They're on average about 100$ cheaper. That's nothing in the long run. I paid $700 for mine shipped to my door in an even nicer G&G case. The guitar was mint condition and had a coil splitter already installed. If you shop around you can get one for easily as cheap. Plus if you ever wanna resell it most people aren't even gonna wanna look at it because it doesn't say USA on it.

@nickguitarsw why would the u.s weigh more than the Japan made? They have the same specs. I've even heard that the MIJs have better fretwork...

@Renots024Young When I hold them side by side the USA model is much heavier. The USA's are made out of the same materials as the fender custom shop guitars. They're a better cut of wood than the japan guitars. The fret edges on the jap's are rounded and many people mistake this for better fretwork. I'd disagree and I think the craftmanship of the USA models are superior. Just because 2 people are twins doesn't mean they're the same person, each guitar is completely different.
