It's ironic that the magazine "Stereo Review" picked "Torch" as the best album of that year, and yet it was hardly known by the public. If only Carly had less anxiety about public appearances she could have made this album a huge hit. I'm reminded about Linda Ronstadt doing her "standard" albums with the Nelson Riddle orchestra and having such large successes with them, while Carly's CD's like "Torch", "My Romance", "Fim Noir" and "Moonlight Serenade" have done less well, despite their worth.

Torch is the best standards album EVER!
And Carly one of the best singer-songwriters EVER!
Love how she talked about her and James. She loved/loves him so much. I can only wish that someday I will meet someone who will love me THAT much.

Carly's TORCH album is one of THE best standards album ever from a ROCK POP artist.

@CR65 She still is, although she has aged a bit of course. She's definitely has changed somewhat in that she's gotten a lot more outgoing it seems, especially int the past 5-7 years.

I've always loved her. The song "You're the One" is one of the greatest ever written in my opinion.

You can tell that she was ahead of her time with the "Torch" album, way before it became trendy for pop singers to cover standards. She obviously has a deep love and a deep knowledge of this repertoire.
Amazing, great album and period in her career. Thanks for sharing!
