Amen, amen, and A-MEN. Thank you for this.

We do kind of do this in my church. But our bible studies have several active people, and they are not shy about calling you out on a wrong interpratation.

@droptozro Oh yes, context is where the inspired meaning is derived, absolutely. The "red letter" thing was only to point out that there is a tendency within the church to deconstruct the Word itself. It never occurred to me that this "pull" in the culture might be the reason why. When he told me this, I wondered why someone as knowledgeable about scripture as he is would say something that he surely must know doesn't gist with the rest of it. Now maybe I understand a little better.

Partially agreed---make sure you understand just because it's God-breathed, doesn't mean God said every single word. There are many things recorded in the Scriptures that are the words of man and are false... a big example of this is the book of Job. Take the example of Job's 2 friends, they gave multiple words against Job and his situation--and then at the end of the book, God told Job to rebuke his friends, Job 42:7 nullifies trusting any of the friends words.

@droptozro I can relate. I had a friend recently tell me that he is a big believer in red letter bibles because "The words of Jesus are the the more important parts of scripture". It was an innocent comment not meant to spark any controversy, but he's in fact wrong. St. Paul said that his own words were to be taken with as much authority as that of the Lord's (who sent him). If scripture is God breathed, and all of it is inspired by God the H.S., then in reality it's all "red letter".

"problem being you believe people change their minds outside of the Gospel which is unbiblical/steals glory from God."
prove that. I see plenty of people changing their minds, how about Jesus' own parable of the prodigal son? Did the son steal glory from God for returning to the Father?
I'm not saying it's for converting, even I know that. "he could have decreed those actions"--no He DID in your view, no question. In your view right now, us debating is God versus God.

@dr Problem being you believe people change their mind outside of the Gospel which is unbiblical/steals glory from God. And for the second time - Presup isn't used to convert people, quit repeating the strawman. That isn't proof at all of going against his decreed will. Since only God knows his decreed will, he could have decreed those actions. He prescribes to preach the Gospel. Cherry picking principles from a reformed apologetic and using them against the reformed view is silly and wont work.

I'd say this video was brilliant, but with Wretched, brilliance comes as standard. So how should I describe it? Super-brilliant? Hyper-brilliant? Hmm... nah.
Let's just say this video is superb even by Wretched's standards. A clear message that we all need.

"...little understanding of what you hijack from the reformed view. ...isn't used to...convert"
Just because I say the word "repent" doesn't mean it has to be applied to the Gospel. It just means to change your mind. If God has decreed that person to unbelief, you're going against His will to try to convert them--which by the way proves you have an autonomy to go against His decreed will and that they have the autonomy to go from an unbelief to belief. Consistency.
-
@droptozro And that shows how you have little understanding of what you hijack from the reformed view. Presuppositionalism isn't used to try to convert people. Stick to non-calvinist arguments that try to convert outside of the Gospel.
im tired of the church accepting thing of the world get bak to basic biblical truths good job todd

Yep.. my parents are victims(well, maybe willingly) of this trash... If I deconstructed desconstructionism---I'd say it's false by reading between the lines!(to me of course hah).
I wanted to do a Bible study with my parents--so I wanted to get together and read the Bible and speak about it... their idea of it was to go buy a little "bible study booklet" and read... that? WhAT? What happened to JUST the Bible?
This illogical wall has been almost impossible to overcome with parents too.
