Patrick Lockyer Presents his argument on Palin and Abortion. If I read it right that all Alaskans get an annual oil dividend of $1600, and even the children, then it puts a different slant on deciding to continue a pregnancy whereby a Downs Syndrome child is expected. It is almost free Health Care? How can it possibly be compared to say a New Orleans mother of four, having been abandoned by the father and having to decide whether or not to go ahead with a similar quandry? Alaska is a different case from most of America where many young people just cannot even contemplate parenthood as they are working but not earning enough to cope with the costs and not coming into the bracket to obtain help?

Well put, it is one thing to be wealthy and make a decision regarding abortion. It is another thing to have to base your decision on your shallow pocketbook and current surroundings. To each their own!

Thank you for the comment. It is emerging even more than I expected that this child will not get much of it's mothers love right now. That is not motherhood that I respect. I had a family of five and three of them were step sons. It was very demanding. Not only is this mother making a decision that barely affects her 'day to day' but also in the financial sense she is rewarded as an Alaskan by its oil dividends where most mothers are not. How CAN that be?

Very well put! Palin needs to live her own life, not the life of every other woman. If she wants the media to respect the privacy of her daughter, she should respect the privacy of every other woman's body!
