To say that you are unimpressed by Trilok's drum set playing is astonishing!! If you can do better than he can on drum kit you are a true master!!
I would be very interested in hearing/seeing you play.

.....Thus, when I see vid's like yours again showing the public how dull the drum set is, I get sort of offended-the same way a tabla player with high regard would be offended if he saw very bad tabla playing being showcased. I hold Trilok and Talvin singh with very high regard, but neither impresses me with their drum set playing. I respect them so dearly for other reasons. All the best.

....Most drum set players ignore all of the wonderful improvasational and colorful ideas that can be produced by drum set, and instead focus on the simple beat. I am so passionate about this because I am a drum set player and I am also very much into INdian Classical and tabla playing. They are similar in their historical development, though drum set even younger...........

its part of a larger argument that drum set playing has been dumbed down in its history and has much more to it then is currently demonstrated by most modern playing. I am trying to be constructive and inoffensive but your playing style exemplifies it. The fusing is done in simplicity and in poor taste. The rhythmic theory used in tabla playing and in some other drum playing is so interesting and intriguing that it is a shame that it isn't used more..........

I take your point, but you are missing
the fundamental point of what we are
doing.
The whole project is about the difference between Indian rhythm and counting and
western jazz/latin/contemporary rhythm
and counting. Bear in mind, that this is
done in a school environment. Some of the
pupils have never seen any of these instruments played at close quarters.

I never said that you should mimic, but at least fuse, such as is fusion. The timbre's of the way the drums are played infringes on the tabla. Keep working at it, good luck.
Desirhythm Thxs for your comment..But Being a tabla player or Indian Music student one should appreciate that this kind of effort is made for Educational purpose...to the students who has never seen or experience such Music so closely...Therfore playing fancy or complex pattern/Styles was not a prime intension.... And its bit unfair to point out an artiste without knowing his rich musical background.... Once again thxs and would love to see some of your work....Best Wishes....
