Check the description for a full list of films:

I made this video because I love films and I think there is great wisdom inherent in the film medium. This video represents some of the best film wisdom I could find, edited together as a single, coherent piece of advice.

In creating this video, I wanted to focus on a few key themes, while featuring as many films as I could. As a result, Reel Wisdom features a broad array of films, from action/adventure and sci-fi films, to dramas and traditional/CG animated films in order to show how all genres of film have something important to say.

There are a lot of Star Wars lines, I know. I included those mainly because I grew up watching Star Wars, and I love all the great lessons found in the films. And obviously, I couldn't make a video with all the wisdom from films, because it would be really long and rather incoherent. This video contains wisdom from only 40 films in a world where hundreds of films are made every year. Sorry if your favorites didn't make it.

The films used, in order of appearance:

Pirates of Silicon Valley
Swimming with Sharks
The Matrix
Star Trek (2009)
Ghost Rider
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
The Iron Giant
Lions for Lambs
The Shawshank Redemption

Dead Poet's Society
Gladiator
Troy
The Matrix Reloaded
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
The Bucket List
The Lion King

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Ferris Beuler's Day Off
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Out of all the new Jedi portrayers in the new star wars films, Liam Neeson was the best.

A lot of this conflicts with one another, I'll tell you something truly wise. Your life doesn't need amazing interesting events to be special, I think superheroes would give anything to have a lazy life where they don't have to do do anything.

Sorry I've been watching a lot of star trek lately lol, my point was that in we treat humanity the same way we treat patriotism, in that we would protect ourselves from the outside and create things like art to give that life meaning.

superior race? Is there another race to compete with? Beauty does not exist without something that can conceive of it. No other species on this planet demonstrates the ability to seek to improve itself or the world. You're not a race until you can do that.

Its true that we delude ourselves into believing in ourselves, we will always believe that Humans are the superior race. personally I've been told that I have so much potential so many times that its lost all meaning. I think the quote from brad pitt in Troy was the best, its our own mortality that makes life worth living, even if its short and even if other people thought it wasn't worth it, you still become part of something else, contributing to life

I was expecting "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That is why it is called the present."
