@gusruth Nik Cohn did not state PJ Proby was the best singer from the era. Not a good idea to misquote a book that everybody has. Nik Cohn did state PJ Proby "split his velvet trousers from knee to crotch" 3 nights in a row, which the singer denies now saying the split was small and across his knee. Things were different in 1965 but nobody believes there was an uproar, even in England, over a knee.

As Nik Cohn in his Epic Book on Rock Awopbopaloobop Awopbamboom states. P . J. Proby best singer ever from the era.

LOL Gotta love the commando crawl past the officials. Aahhh..the mistakes of our youth. No one would bat an eye now at the trouser splitting, but in the mid 60's? Shock horror.

If I had met Elvis Presley even once I would have made a real effort to get a photograph of myself with the man to prove it. I mean ELVIS will always be The king of Rock 'N' Roll. BUT dear reader, despite, according to PJP, knoing Elvis from age 14, there exists Not One single photograph og PJP. Jim Smith or Jet Powers with Elvis Presley and lets face it folks Presley was not shy of cameras. So how would this strange matter of the missing picture be explained? Simple, PJP never knew Elvis. END.

I don't care if he's singing or talking. I just love to hear this man's beautiful voice.
I'll take whatever I can get.

Jigaboo123456 P.J. could/can mimic anyone, that comes from his days when he made a living doing demo's for Elvis,Cash,Vee,you name 'em. He also had the most amazing special voice of his own & he still has! Ron
Does anyone know what the P.J.Proby song is called that goes something like 'I Somokum Boo Dye Ay, I Somokum Boo'? It's a bit like 'Nikki Hoeky' and was on Beat Club years ago.
Weird question I know...and I ain't been Somokum nothing...I just want to get the record!

Hi, sorry for delay in replying. Not sure of the lyrics but check out Crazy Cajun on Carlsberg and Cocktails maxi single from 1985 on scratch records.Dont think this was on Beat Club though.I have asked proby experts and your lyrics dont bring a song to mind.

There is a lot of the "Hold Me" song videos on the site. Where though is his hit that he sang probably the same year called "Together" another version of an old song like "Hold Me." I feel that "Together" is just as much, if not more a raunchy rocker. Does anyone have have access to this song?

Hi, sorry for delay in replying, PJ did a lip-sync for Together on top of the pops(bbc) and for Thank your lucky stars(itv) but the expensive videotape has long since been wiped, and nothing remains in archive.
Since March 2007 in Blackpool PJ has included Together in his live shows. Regards.
