Truly the biggest load of crap. Fisher did not come up with the 29" bike. Bruce Gordon, Wes Williams, Joe Murray, Mark Slate and Bob Poor did. A special nod needs to go to Steve Potts for making Fisher's original prototype and for OX Brand for being the first 29" only company. When Bruce Gordon decided to sideline the fat tired project Wes Williams forced the industry to adopt the new wheel size. Fisher's contribution was producing the bikes in big numbers, that's it.

to me it feels like there are no differences between a 29er and 26er. i have both and i take them out to the local trail and the ride still is the same for me. i think the only real difference is is the traction

Well comfort is the most important issue for me, and most riders I bet. So this is a good idea. But I don't think its the best for everone. Some will benefit fromfaster acceleration, and smaller wheels will be lighter. Some will feel the added wind drag is a problem on open spaces. Its noticable on road bikes, I have 16" and 26" and 700c bikes to compare with, and smaller is better in that regard. Still personal riding style will vary. I'm glad to have the option...gimme more of that!
I own a Kona Abra Cadabra and the Kona King kahuna(29er)I love both bikes but for different purposes.29er's are great for climbing and daily comuting and they do cover more ground easily but they will never be my choice for descents or jumping because they feel so heavy and big and while in the air they feel like huge sails catching the wind and also not easy to handle. So when i really wanna have fun i will choose my 26 inch wheel every time over any 29er !!!!!!!!!

I got a 29er after A-B against comparable 26er. Just felt more comfortable, sturdy and I like the more upright riding position I get....I do think they are ugly though.
