"Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive" was written with music by Harold Arlen ("Over The Rainbow", et.al.) and lyrics by the grand master, Johnny Mercer. Mercer recorded the song on Oct. 4, 1944 with Paul Weston's Orchestra and vocal backing by the Pied Pipers. The recording was released during the Christmas season of 1944 right around the end of the Battle of the Bulge during WW2, and was a smash hit on into 1945.

  • This slowly builds and becomes the favorite version of this song I have heard. By far the best version I have encountered, and bonus points for Johnny Mercer singing. His lyrics are awesome, and we do need to accentuate the positive in these tough economic and strident days of conflict and polarization all around us. Blessings. :D

  • I think this version was featured in the film, LA Confidential. Yes, it was! Great classic. ♥ Thank you for posting. :-)
