hey!
to be honest, i haven't used final cut a lot so far. however, the hf21 won't allow for the direct import into final cut (as far is i've tried). as mentionen in my previous post, i use iSkySoft for the conversion of the raw footage into quicktime clips. it works pretty fine, and iSkySoft is not that expensive. results look good!

Hi, I just bought myself the HFS21 also and I'm facing similar problems. The maximum I can import the footage into FInal Cut is 11.9Mbs. I did have the Panasonic HS700 which went in at 15.9mps and looked much better. Did you ever sort this out?

I think the camera was set up to its highest settings. I used Pixela (packaged software) to shrink it down. Pixela only exports Computer, iPod, and Web settings. I think this is Computer mode. iPod is 640X360? Web is 320X240 (4X3)

Not impressed. The video is not in 1080p.
i got myself a hf21 too. i'm facing really big problems importing the footage on my mac. total quality loss! the imported footage, especially with lots of movement, is unusable for further processing or cutting.
today i tried converting the footage using sSkysoft witch gives way better results.
have you been facing these issues as well?

@Gullahboy On the PC, I use the bundled Pixela if I just need to crop and export to MPG. I use Sony Vegas Studio for everything else, such as adding effects, titles and exporting to different formats, rates, and sizes. Pretty easy to use.

@floxxflow I have a PPC dual G5 2ghz. All this is really too slow for me to edit or play HD video. When I had OSX 10.3.9, iMovie used DV files. Editing took about three-times the play speed to edit, but that's not too bad. Now that I have 10.5, iMovie needs AAC (I think) or it'll take ages to convert other types to it's native format. I got a quad-core 3ghz PC and Sony Vegas will render HD about the same as play speed! I still burn standard DVDs on the Mac.
