Making progress with circular breathing...

This time you hear the instrumental piece preserved from the 2nd century AD in the Berlin papyrus (# 6870); it's the partially reconstructed version by Justus Willberg. Here, the full non-overblowing tonal range of the Louvre aulos is used.

The instrument is the same I use in the aulos videos #1 and #3.

  • circular breathing is not something that comes naturally :\ very hard work to do. Keep up the practicing :)

  • @Chihirolee3 Thanks! You see, on other reed instruments I can do circular breathing - with the aulos it's different, because you have a.) two separate double reeds which are b.) very sensitive in terms of pressure and c.) are not positioned entirely in the player's mouth, only the tips are. But it's worth the work:)
