Part two of California Connected's interview with Sun Microsystems Chief Technology Officer, Greg Papadopoulos. He explains why open source is the business model of the future.
The video helped me cleared a lot of loose thoughts about open source (I just started using Ubuntu). I would now think that open source being now focused on operating system is irrelevant, once the machine of transparent collaboration is set, the sky is the limit, whether in software, hardware, medicine, etc.
He doesn't neccessarily understand what they mean by requiring, there's a certain point which says that you're NOT required to publish anything if you use it for yourself, but if you give it to others, you must also provide the code for everyone else.
he reminds me of Steve Martin..
