Hello. I'm Carmen Perez, director of the Valencian institute of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, and I would like to invite them to know the activities that we carry out.
Since the institute come in to service by the Generalitat Valenciana in 2005, we join in the project to preserve and restore the heritage of the community, motivated for transmitting the great historical - artistic legacy of our past.
For this we have advanced installations and a multidisciplinary team investigating the historical and technical aspects of each case and lay down the most appropriate methods of preservation.
Our commitment is to contribute to the knowledge of our past, that survives as cultural symbol and to be part of the appeal of the community and its projection abroad.
I hope you enjoy this journey, the same way as we do in every intervention.

The institute is the managing organ of the preservation and investigation of the Comunitat Valenciana historical legacy.
The operating principles are based on obtaining the best knowledge of each piece while respecting the work of art through minimal intervention and maximum reversibility.

In addition to services in restoration and research, perform preventive conservation tasks, formation and diffusion in institutions that guard the heritage, as museums, churches, archives and libraries.

The Institute has technical resouces with vanguard facilities, and a large interdisciplinary team of experts in fields such as restoration, art history, archeology, physics, chemistry, photography, didactics planning, and coordination and project management, all committed to a common objective: to research, preserve and disseminate our cultural heritage.

This legacy ranges from the footsteps of our distant past, as paleontological and geological remains, or Mediterranean cave paintings, to contemporary art from Valencia.

The outstanding research work provides a broad field of study continuously updated.
The works are diagnosed by non-destructive studies from innovative imaging techniques such as infrared reflectography, ultraviolet, x-rays, CT, 3D scanner, studies of microsamples with light and electron microscopy.
The study of the degradation of materials in the chamber of controlled aging facilitates preveer his evolution. These resources allow detailed analysis of the constituent materials and their conservation status, being a key support for subsequent restoration and preservation.

The quality of projects has enabled agencies to work actively with national and international prestige. Working closely with research and training in universities in the Comunitat Valenciana, Universitat de Valencia and Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, CEU San Pablo and other national universities as Universidad de Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León and Universidad de Sevilla.
Actively collaborating with the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain, the Andalusian Historical Heritage Institute (IAPH) or the Centre for Conservation and Restoration of Simancas. Associations such as restauradores sin Fronteras, the Spanish Association of Non-destructive testing or Technological Institute of Optics, Colour and Image.
At the international level ... Opificio delle Pietre Dure di Firenze, Istituto di Fisica Generale Applicata of Milan, the Hispanic Society of America or the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, Soprintendenza of Naples, Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts of India, Institute Music of Cuba, Institute of History of Nicaragua and Central America Central University, universidad nacional de san juan, Argentina or the Ministry of Morocco.
Part (active) with the Ge-IIC, ICOM Spain, International Council of Museums, ICOM-CC, and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS.)
Besides research projects, the IVC + R links via cooperation projects with developing countries to train technicians who practice and put this knowledge into practice.
With this broad perspective the institute acquired an international projectiom with the intention of both to spread the heritage of Valencia, as well to bring in and raise awareness in the Community the legacy of other cultures.

The constant national and international cooperation makes possible an intensive training activity for the expertise of heritage professionals, through courses, seminars, conferences and congresses.
In this way, converge in Valencia leading exponents of the study and update discipline.

Social awareness of heritage values and the didactic approach of restoration is another objective of the institute. This develops graphic and audiovisual material, conferences, guided tours and workshops to involve future generations in the conservation of our heritage.
