  • I'm not a retriever..I'm rhodesian..a RHODEEESIAN..with a ridge. lol great stuff and great tips. Thanks David!

  • @Ahmenti Thank you!

  • Hi David been enjoying your dog training videos. Just saw you throw a stick for willie which made me think i'd tell you about a really bad experience i had with a dog that has put me off sticks for ever. Many years ago my dog Max ran onto a stick thrown by a friend which stuck in the mud and when he ran to it it stuck in the roof of his mouth, just missed a big artery, 50 p piece size hole that needed stitches and it nearly killed him. Since then I only use soft things for throwing games. Rose

  • @wellbalancedpup Yep. I have had a similar experience. Good feedback!

  • @Thebeautiful11 Shoot some video and put it up. I will take a look. I might be able to offer you some phone consultation services along with video support, too.

  • @davidthedogtrainer Thanks for your replies. they are encouraging. I'm trying to train them like i see you doing and i'm going to do a video and send it to you so you can see either how GOOD they are or how BAD I am at training.

  • @Thebeautiful11 Get the food out of you hands ASAP. A bag crinkle or a reach for a pocket will always get looks, if you are not careful. Remember, plug in your verbal cues before you reach for the goodies. Teach them the importance of listening they will become BELIEVERS!

  • She IS only doing it because I have a treat. Neither of my puppies pay me a damn bit of attention until they hear a bag crinkle.

  • Thanks again, rogersmmr, for the input! I think that sometimes R+ anticipation leads to some lip licking (thus, a CER), but knowing that Willie is a sensitive dog, I will be more attentive to his signals the next time we work. I also see front licks (nose) and side licks (slurps). I wonder if there is a separate interpretation. I am also talking loud for the mic, which may cause stress in the pooch. Ah, I love video!

  • Good observations. Willie and I do mostly casual leash walks together, so perhaps the stress of the lesson was getting in the way of learning, a bit. Thanks for watching!
