Obscura Digital debuts new projection mapping software on San Francisco's City Hall for the Black and White Ball.
This is one of our latest projects where we used San Francisco City Hall as a canvas. This 450' long by 80' tall building turned into the biggest video canvas San Francisco has ever seen. This was the debut of our new real-time projection mapping software, where there is no longer a need to pre-bake content. The 8K plate is fully dynamic, allowing for pixel shifting and geometry correction on the fly as the show is running. No more grids or calibrations. Nice.
With this new system, the GPU generates the media from a library of many different textures and videos, which allows for a show that never has the same effect twice. This also puts an end to the need to design media specifically for certain geometry. Even nicer.
Oh, and this was also complete with live Tweets coming through and being projected in the comp.
this is awesome. where will you guys set up next. I've been wanting to catch a live perspective of this. i've only seen it online lol
