In 1955, the very first episode of the Mickey Mouse Club introduced the world to the "Merry Mouseketeers." The first week of the show was released onto DVD as part of the Disney Treasures series a few years back, and as someone who had only seen the show in the syndicated 30 minute editions, it was a real treat to see how much the show evolved over time. I wish Disney would release more Club related DVDs.
Bobby scares me.

The series was filmed and shown in black and white, as ABC didn't have color broadcasting facilities until September 1962. However, Disney filmed the animated opening, and Mickey's daily opening and closing segments in color because he believed the show would someday be filmed in color.
