Good for you Tony.

Steve at around 05.00 is on fucking fire! Amazing stuff!
-
@manonthemoog Squire used Moog Taurus bass pedals around this time - not sure if that's what Anderson is playing here - possibly? :)
-
@ksjoyjespeace Collins was a HUGE Yes fan around this time, and would watch them whenever he could. :)
-
@neil73 Some would say it doesn't work anyway! :)

By the way Jon's playing that thing I suspect that he's playing bass pedals with his hands. I'm not sure if they made those things back then but it sure looks like that is what he's playing. Its certainly possible -Genesis was using bass pedals by 72 or 73 at the latest.

@pewsterbaby I understand that - in fact I largely agree with you. Wakeman was the bee's knees back when he first joined. One of my biggest criticisms of Rick Wakeman (and I've told him this, believe me or not) is his choice of keyboard sounds - they are far too 'tinny' and childs toy keyboard like - no fat bass keyboard sound or 'warmth' to it, apart from his occasional minimoog work.
-
@neil73 Wakeman's contributions to Tales are minimal. He didn't want to do the lengthy concept. If you really notice, his work is a lot of plain mellotron washes underneath the rest of the band being much more active during those 4 marathon songs. I mean, he seems to come awake for about 4 or 5 minutes worth out of every 20, then disappear underneath the "tide" again in Jon's concepts in "Oceans". And I'll never understand why Wakeman gets like 95% of keyboard credit when Yes has had 6 of 'em.

@MrMeddled Here it is five months. I now think Youtube sucks a little less
What's that weird synth that Jon's playing?

@Seej1982 suppose it's one one of the early synths from back then, but not sure which. Apparently, Kaye refused to play any synthesizers, so Jon played them live when need be.
