Its your screen backlight went out.I bought a lcd screen from ebay and when it got to me it was kicked or droped and when i turned on the screen it would only stay on for like 5 secounds

I have the same problem and I would like to know how this can be fixed? Mine is the same kind of emachine T5254 mine shuts down at the windows screen. I tried to reinstall windows and it goes to setup and shuts down. Its not the hard drive nor the motherboard. Could it be the power supply or the heat sink fan? The only think i can do now is boot from a disc. Please help!!

@bugginout Well with me it was the monitor. So if you can somehow test on a completely different monitor, u'd get closer to fixing the problem.

I'm a dudette. I don't know what the exact cause of your pc prob could be, but it could be the wiring connection between your monitor and pc. If you can, try getting a new wire cord for your monitor. But if you cannot do that, you'll have to get a new monitor all together. Hope that helps. :-)
