oh stop, it is his interpetation...none of these clips does he say it is verbatim of transcribed 100%.

Harvey's drum work on Chamaleon was inspired by Neftali Santiago after hearing Mandrill's "Fencewalk"....

Snare and Bass drum are basically correct but there's not enough emphasis of the down beat in the hi hat, they should be phrased with a positive down beat followed by a very light touch of the 8th notes in between beats 123 and 4. Secondly, he's playing too loud (Like a lot of drummers) so the sneaky feel and sound of Masons version is lost. The little drag beats on snare drum that typify masons style are also missing. This demonstration sounds more like a rough guess from memory

"can ANY drummer nail Mason's hi-hat nuances?"
To that I say no. Harvey's got one of the most recognizable and unique sounds that I have yet to hear accurately duplicated. You can perfect your Purdie shuffle, your Gadd paradiddles, and your Tony triplets until the cows come home, but I'll be impressed when someone duplicates Harvey's sound and technique. I just frustrate myself when I try to play his stuff lol.
