This is my dog, Guillermo. He was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which causes him to move and walk differently than a normal dog. He is in no pain and is the happiest dog you would ever meet. I rescued him when he was 6 weeks old and he is now 2 and doing great.

  • What IS "Cerebellar Hypoplasia"?

I've searched it, but I can't find anything about it.

  • @PojkenMedTejpen It's when the cerebellum never fully developed from birth. The cerebellum is the part of your brain responsible for your motor skills. Basically the only thing really affected is the way his brain tells his legs, head, etc. to move. Like it's not quite sending the full signal a normal cerebellum would. At least that's how I understand it.

  • Wow he is doing really well. My 12 week old British Bulldog puppy suffers from cerebellar hypoplasia and his balance is not good when he gets outside. I am hoping that he grows out of it as he ages like your dog did. Thank you for posting this video. You've given me hope.

  • @007ladylane Guillermo had a really hard time at 6 weeks old. He couldn't make it more than 5 or 6 ft before falling, but he also had a broken vertebrae in his back and was very malnourished. He has learned to cope with it really well over the past 3 1/2 years. He even learned to go up and down long flights of stairs. Best of luck with your puppy. You'll be very excited when you see him learn new things.

  • He doesn't have an extended lower jaw. He looks completely normal. It's only his motor skills that are affected by his condition.

  • pat him :(

  • omg hes adorable. :)

  • He's a charming and adorable dog :D It's good he has an owner like you!

  • Do us a favor and give him a tasty bacon treat and a good petting behind the ears on behalf of his internet fans!

  • This is the mildest case I have ever seen. He is a lovely dog. Good on you for taking on such a special case :)

  • Thank you so much for sharing. Our Maltese pup has the same condition. Our vet wanted to put him down when he was 3 weeks old and we refused. We've been working with him to help him learn to walk, and I've discovered he can swim pretty well to build his legs muscles up. He can go walk about 7-8 feet before falling over, but of course we are hoping for what your pooch as achieved. :)
