this movie made me want to become a stewardess. and now i have been for almost 30 years. love this movie. it's the only "airport" movie as far as i'm concerned.
This was one of the highest grossing picture of 1970......featuring an all-star cast including Dean Martin, Burt Lancaster,George Kennedy,Jacqueline Bisset, with
Van Heflin,Jean Seberg, and Helen Hayes(who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress).....AIRPORT was the original and still one of the best of the grand disaster movies of the 1970's. Produced by Ross Hunter this movie had audiences in suspense and it was a huge cash cow at the boxoffice too.
It's funny---to me,this never felt like a movie from 1970;no violence, excessive profanity or nudity, and it wasn't directed by some young maverick who decided to give it a nihilistic ending.
Aurthur Haley wrote the book of this based on the real story of the sabotage of COA11 in 1962

@rickjr37 also to add Monica Lewis is the only other actor/actress to appear in more than one ('77 and '79),
I think.

@ctdsnark Well, it really was made in the 60's. And all Ross Hunter films have a classy style all their own.

George Kennedy is the only actor to appear in all 4 Airport movies in the same role.
