  • IMO: he burnt catholics who believed in papal supremacy and he burnt protestants who denied the Real Presence.

    I held He was a catholic who rejected the pope.

    and his conscience was very flexible. his view of leviticus: "you shall not have your brother's wife" was taken out of context and twisted. His divorce of

    Catherine was sin and Luther refused to endorse it. there was NO contradiction in the Bible over "brothers widow"

    but i see his view was more complex than I thought. thanks

  • Henry only really used religion when it was a benefit him; such as when he tried to declare his marriage to Catherine of Aragon null and void by using the excuse; "thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife.' Sad, really, since he had the opportunity to disband religion in England but didn't...
