"Turn The Beat Around" is a disco song written by Gerald Jackson and Peter Jackson and popularized by Vicki Sue Robinson in 1976, originally appearing on her debut album, Never Gonna Let You Go.

The track, considered a disco classic, is featured on many compilation albums.

Laura Branigan (1957-2004) was the first major artist to cover the song, and the version she co-produced appeared on her 1990 album Laura Branigan. Never officially released as a single, several remix versions released to DJs as a promo garnered significant play in Hi-NRG clubs.

  • Gloria Estefan's version is horrible. This isn't the best live performance of Laura's but Gloria Estefan will never compare.

  • @SFKennyn, Laura Branigan could never compare to Gloria Estefan. This is the most horrible version of turn the beat around in history. Gloria Estefan is the star of "Turn The Beat Around"

  • laura is my angel

  • @SFKennyn love her but this is weird. very tiffanyish!

  • What a singer, and such a sad loss. her albums prove she wasn't just a disco diva because she was a really great vocalist

  • good song mi like smile all

  • shake those hips, uber-mullet.

  • @amorhombre I couldn't agree more. She was one classy and extremely talented woman who is greatly missed by her loyal fans.

  • This song is one of my favorites from amazing Laura Branigan. The sound of this track reminds me mix of Madonna, Paula Abdul, Taylor Dayne and Samantha Fox. Anyway Laura is the most overlooked & underrated female artist in history (along with Sandra and Belinda Carlisle)

  • Such a great performer. Her voice is one of a kind and transcends any concept of "cover." RIP, Laura

  • Um the song is immaculate in any version its a beautiful disco fun song its very donna sumer like but I like Gloria Estefanns version of the song a lot because she added a latin flavour to it with the miami sound machine and she shot the video pregnant now that is a true woman.
