Thomas A. Pallozzi-Haynes and Dr. Francesco Rubino, a surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City who specializes in metabolic surgery, discuss Mr. Pallozzi-Haynes' case.

Mr. Pallozzi-Haynes was a diabetic in a "downward spiral." Doctors were unable to control his glucose levels with medication. His sugar levels kept increasing as did his weight. He underwent metabolic surgery, performed by Dr. Rubino, which modified his digestive system. The procedure normalized Mr. Pallozzi-Haynes' glucose levels and weight.
