Another short clip of Bill playing a drum solo in double time, if you want to call it that, followed by a full length feature of Buddy Rich in London (1973) playing the Beatles's "Something" (featuring Charley Davis) from the video "Rich in London" (from Bill's collection). This is the same arrangement as on the "Stick It" album except Buddy doesn't challenge Charley Davis to hold out the note at the end till he gives up like he did with Lin Biviano on the album!

Charley Davis, Greg Hopkins, John Hoffman, Larry Hall (Trumpet)
Alan Kaplan, Keith O'Quinn, John Leys (Trombone)
Joe Romano, Bob Martin (Alto Sax)
Pat LaBarbera, Bob Crea (Tenor Sax)
John Aslawsby (Baritone Sax)
Buddy Budson (Piano)
James Bruno (Guitar)
Ronald Paley (Bass)
Buddy Rich (Drums)
Ernie Wise (Audience)

Dorchester Hotel,
United Kingdom (UK)

  • thank you calism23.

  • you're welcome speedoflite1.

  • Nice! Virtually identical arrgt to a cut on "Rich in London" with Lin Biviano playing lead/solo.

  • Put it on YouTube if you've got it. I'd love to see it.

  • He's talking about the album where Lin plays. We alluded to it in the text.

  • Yeah, I know - but I'd still like to see it. Maybe we'll do that video response we taked about, at some point.

  • @TheWho852 Thanks. About 41 years.

  • Dude you are awesome how long have u been playing???

  • Mr. Davis equipment: Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet and Bach 3B mpc.

  • This guy puts Lin Biviano to shame. Solid core in his sound. Tasty inflections. Thought out improvised lines. And a powerful upper register, with what?? A sound a listener would like to hear....What else makes this guy different from biviano??? HE CAN PLAY IN TUNE!!!!!!!!

  • Not even close to Lin Biviano's( STICK IT) Buddy's album version, who worshiped Maynard Ferguson

  • Have to admit I don't know Charlie Davis. Surprised I don't. Nice tip of the hat there to Maynard on his part. Good player.

  • dude, this kids hitting triple high notes on the trumpet without breaking a sweat....my mind is blown.
