That's what I've been saying! I love Girlfriend as much as the next guy, but the fact that that's the only album critics seem to care about really ticks me off. 'Sunshine Lies' is in the running for the top spot in my favorite of his albums. It's great from start to finish... and the bonus tracks are great too!

@spiderkiss The vinyl version has four extra tracks (Dark Blue, Badass, Could You Need Me? & When You're Gone) and the iTunes version has six (the same as the vinyl but with the addition of Stick It & Meltdown).

I wasn't too wild about Girlfriend, but In Reverse is the best album ever made by anyone. Ever. Well that's my opinion. I think Back of my Mind is the best song on Sunshine Lies. God, I am so f$&!ing happy I found Matthew Sweet's music.

Girlfriend was great; 100% Fun, even Altered Beast was better. Critics suck as they don't dig deep, they seem to emphasize the mainstream. Glad to see Matthew back and not even revisiting "Girlfriend". This is great music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well a comeback album because he was gone from solo stuff for a few years and came back. So technically... But you're right in the true sense of the meaning comeback album.

Yes, it's a great album, but seriously it's not a comeback album. He did Kimi Ga Suki in 2003, and in my opinion is up there with Girlfriend, if not surpassing it. It's not a comeback album. It's 5 years since an album because he wanted to try a trio in 2003/4 with The Thorns and ballads with Susanna Hoffs in 2006. OK, so he did it, and went back to solo stuff.
