January 2010... and Rabbie Burns Day has just dawned in the Land Downunder ! Despite the considerable separation from Scotland, Gruntlesnoot is not one to neglect this opportunity to pay homage to the great Bard for his birthday on the 25th! -But, alas, as far as MICE go, not everybody sees them from the compassionate viewpoint of Rab.... There is one in particular who has no use whatsoever for haggis, neeps & chappit tatties on her Burns Supper Menu ......By the way, Gruntlesnoot personally abhors the ill-treatment of animals. Please note that as Gruntlesnoot's own sentiments regarding the moose are very much more in harmony with those of Rabbie (rather than 'Tabbie') she has made siccar that the moose in this instance makes a valiant escape to the protective auspices of the Bard himself! Tabbie will have to be content in this instance with any left-over haggis from Burns' Supper for her evening meal!

  • I didn't understand what the mouse was saying....;-)

  • Sorry about that Bill! The wee moose was actually reduced by intense fear to gibbering incoherently until the last sequence when it finds the words to beg for the clemency of the rat-poison, rather than face its demise in the hellish jaws of Tabbie! Thanks for eliciting this clarification, as it might be bamboozoling others as well !

  • This is entirely splendid.

Unfortunately, no matter how many times I click the 'Like' button, only the first registers.

Rabbie was a gentle man and a Gentleman. A wordy writer who got reet to the heart of each matter. But he certainly had a great sense of humour. This fine wee tribute is as inoffensive to his memory as it is funny. And that's very.

  • Haven't laughed so hard for ages. Thanks!!

  • A finely-paced affectionate pastiche that comes from really "getting" it. Stay tuned for tonight's Veggie Haggis Address. Although youse in Oz will be feeling the Tuesday morning headache by then.

  • Hope you have a haggis Mary lol, and neeps and tatties.. :)

luved the cat doing Burns its different lol
