Just a quick slideshow of the rebuild of my OS fl-70. The reason for the rebuild is mainly due to it not having been run in over 2 years and being ceased/locked due to this. Normally I put after run oil in my 4-strokes before prolonged storage to prevent/slow corrosion, but unfortunately, this motor slipped my mind. The Verdict: In comparison to other similarly sized 4-stroke engines such as the OS fs-91 Surpass II , this engine is of very low quality. This is seen in the ABC cylinder/sleeve construction, a sealed rear crank bearing (i don't know why they made it this way, because this leaves no way for oil to get into the cam box or rockers) and the absence of ball bearings supporting the cam. Also the carb can be a nightmare to tune.
Agreed, this engine is pretty terrible quality. I mean, I run a 12X7 prop and max out at 9,400 RPM with 15% nitro, and have tried so far 3 different fuels. This thing is horrible to tune as well. Also really heavy. I have a Saito .62 that was cheaper, lighter, and turns the same prop well over 10,000 RPM on the same fuel... gonna have to get a different propeller it's so powerful! No wonder they discontinued this engine
