WeedboT is a gardening robot that could work well in households, yards or on large cornfields. WeedboT is an ecological, economic and independent robot which once powered on will look for weed and tear them out. The robot will know how to differentiate between flowers, wheat, corn, onions, paprika and weeds.
With WeedboT one can automatize the maintenance process of yards and lawns, or on a larger scale, entire hectares. Weedbot does not use any toxic materials and substances making it ideal in bio agriculture or in areas around kid play zones. It is a light small robot, easy to maintain that can help farmers cut down on their costs.
WeedboT has 3 sensors and a webcam used to view surround environment. During its active state, WeedboT reads its webcam to look after green surroundings which may contain plants.
To avoid high obstacles WeedboT uses an ultrasounds sensor located in front of the mobile arm, and a infrared sensor located bottom right which is incorporated into the iRobot. It also uses the bumper sensor available on the same iRobot.
To move its mobile arm, WeedboT uses 3 NXT Lego drives: 1 to rotate left and right, one to lift the arm and one to close its claw.
WeedboT is powered by a single C application which talks via USB to the NXT Lego Brick, the webcam and the ultrasounds sensor, and via Serial/USB to talk to the iRobot.
