The introduction to our 60 minute documentary aimed at helping survivors of strokes and their loved ones through the recovery process. The film looks at the numerous challenges stroke survivors face, including aphasia, mental health problems and physical impairment. It draws on personal testimony from clinicians, therapists, and people who have been through rehabilitation following a stroke to offer practical advice about dealing with the condition and ways to maximise recovery.

Introduction: What is a stroke, the stroke unit at Northwick Park Hospital, input from stroke specialists
Chapter 1: Stroke and mental health: Looks at depression/low mood following a stroke, effects on emotions and personality, how to deal with psychological issues.
Chapter 2: Stroke, speech & language: Looks at the speech condition 'aphasia' and its related disorders. Examines ways to communicate without speech.
Chapter 3: Stroke and physical impairment: Examines the physical disabilities a stroke may leave behind. Looks at physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
Chapter 4: Secondary Prevention & finding support: How to reduce the risk of further strokes and find help and support within the community.
