Panasonic GH2 1080p MJPEG at 60 FPS

Vitaliy Released a new Ptools yesterday that enables 1080p @60 FPS MJPEG on the Panasonic GH2. All of the clips in the video except for the long clip of my son doing the full route were shot in 1080p @ 60 FPS on the GH2.

However, we have discovered it is not true 1080p @ 60 FPS. It speeds up the video to 2x and only records 1080p @ 30 FPS.

This setting is not stable either. It stops recording after about 8 seconds. That is why I had to shoot the full route shot in 720p @ 60 FPS AVC-HD. However, there was a clear difference in resolution between the 720p and 1080p clips.

If Panasonic wanted to they could add 1080p @ 60 FPS MP4 in the firmware that they are going to release for the GH2 in December.

This was shot with the Panasonic 25mm F1.4 lens @ F1.4 and 1/125th shutter speed.

Thanks mate, so how is the audio under very load situations? You may not be in that scene but I video outdoor festivaals a lot and only my little Canon IXUS records the audio without distortion?

@Sonicfest For serious audio and external mic is the only option. The GH2 can use external mics and its on-board audio is about the same as any other cameras.

Pretty cool, nice climb - I have the Sony A55 that also records full AVC-HD and because of the translucent mirror can maintain auto-focus really well however I find that it's very sensitive to camera movement. It corrects little movements but if I walk it give a really wonky video - how is the Panasonic GH2 in that regards.

Unfortunatly the Sony A55 in video mode does not allow any apature adjustment, you have to accept it's automatic choice. How is the GH2 in that regards?

@Sonicfest The GH2 allows full manual control of all parameters during video recording. The A55 is a great camera. However, the GH2 is pretty much as good as it gets for video.

@orenchick Yes a new hack was released yesterday that enables 1080p @ 60 FPS MJPEG. It is not stable yet though. Also we have not determined if it is 1080p or upscaled 720p. It sure looks good though.
