I got this telephone from craigslist. I got it for $5.00 because it was all in pieces. Even all of the wood was taken apart at the dove tail joints. All the metal was rusted and the coil for the bells was broken. I re-glued the wood, sanded it, stained, and re varnished it. After buying a 1950's telephone that had bells in it, I took the guts out of it and made an oak box for the guts. The box was made to fit inside of the Kellogg phone. I disconnected the bells from the guts and wired it to the Kellogg's original bells. Worked like a charm. In short, this phone displays as well as it sounds. I bought re production Kellogg brass plates and cloth covered wire to keep it looking as original as possible. Granted the name plates may not be in their original locations, but I customized for how I wanted it to look.

  • you should bias those bells, or whenever you pick up ANY phone, it will ding.

  • @thecooldude9999 I actually like the fact it dings once when I pick up my other phones. But if I chose to bias it, how would I go about doing that?

  • @thecooldude9999 Oh OK, I see what your saying. However in this case I'm using the Kellogg's original bells that you see on the outside, and have disconnected the chassis's bells. And your right, I could to the same Bias to those bells too. Thank you for the information!

  • I bet you can sell that phone for a lot more money now .

  • @fadatuberadioman your welcome!

  • @kprotel Thank You!

  • @fadatuberadioman sometimes, there is a lever that you can move that will bias it left, but you can also use a weak spring to bias it to one side.
