on January first 2011, Deputy Hopper was called to a Shots Fired call. Upon arrival she cleared the scene and deemed it safe to conduct the investigation. While taking a picture of a Foot Print, Michael L. Ferry, 50, Opened his door and fired a single shotgun round into the Deputy, fatally wounding her. Police from over five different agencies surrounded the house, during a brief shootout Officer Jeremy Blum of German Township Police was shot and since then has been released from the Hospital. The suspect, Michael L. Ferryman was shot to death by officers inside of his trailer. On Thursday, January 6th, the community was invited to the viewing of Deputy Suzanne Waughtel Hopper who left behind two children and a newly wed husband. On Friday over Sixteen-Hundred Emergency Vehicles gathered at Navistar to take part in the Funeral Procession.

Not my favorite cop but R.I.P; Not to be on the bad side but she made me feel like total shit and I did nothing and like a few months before she was in my house giving me a lecture on how horrible my mom is to me, when she's not but R.I.P AND You will be missed and my mom is not horrible and neither is my boyfriend. Just because someone has a kid and their ex cheats on them doesn't mean I am shit just because I love him. I've known him all my life and it was love at first sight. Swear.

I was dating her son charlie he is a sweetheart and ik he was really close to his mom. So all you haters need to shut the fuck up and stop talkin shit bout her she was a good friend she was like a mother to me and i miss her very much the guy who shot her deserves to burn to death down in hell and Suzanne is up in heaven where she belongs

It has been a year come tomorrow since the deadly accident. Till this day I see the changes it has made in the Community. a new law is being proposed in Deputy Hopper's Honor, this law will set up a statewide database for the people found not guilty by reason of insanity. This is a great idea. Thank you Suzanne, we will never forget you!

Does anyone know if they killed the gunman? sure hope so, anyone who kills or woudns an officer should be shot. GOD BLESS ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL. I love you all

The gunman was killed in a massive amount of Gunfire. Several Police Departments opened fire.

For the one person who dislikes this, think of it this way. It could have been your Mother when you were a Teenager. She means the world to you and you just lost her, you woke up that saturday morning just like any other morning, saying good bye to her as she went to work... That was the last thing her kids heard . . .
