Rep. Blackburn who represents portions of Memphis, Clarksville, and Franklin as well as those places in between was placed on the House Select Committee on Energy in order to offer flattery to oil company executives and condemnation for the Bush administration, the House, and the Senate. Her line of questioning is entirely pointless.

  • Whatever happened to the Witch Hunts the Democrats did after taking over Congress in 2006? I remember they blasted Repubs and Big oil when gas went over $2.00 gal under a Republican controlled Congress. After the Democrats took over and Oil went over $4.00 gal, not a peep from the Democrats. Hypocrisy?

  • Blackburn is pathetic and needs to be voted out. Some of us tried in the last election...However, an educated voter is a rarity here in Tennessee...too much right-wing koolaid...This lady is bought and sold by big oil and big business. She and many repubs are so short-sighted when it comes to the environment, they are extremely short-sited.

  • @shroomin79 because drilling for crude is expensive and theres a lot of expenses. The government gets 13% for doing absolutely nothing.

  • What? she said 69% goes to crude, 13% for taxes, and 18% to refining distribution, marketing

how is 13% more than 69% or 18% this lady is an idiot

  • This was an amazing conference or whatever you'd call it. I watched the whole thing. Oil companies are not evil, they are providing the American people a necessary service to run our economy. Get educated before you try to hang the oil execs. 7 to 10 percent profit by the oil companies is DWARFED by Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae's 80 to 90%.

  • She must have blew them all

  • Marsha is another corrupt republican with her hand in the till. She should be tried and sentenced to prison for corruption. What a waste of space!

  • Sounds to me she is more like explaining instead of questioning. Explaining, if not exonerating.

  • I'm meant Enron got put in its placed by being prosecuted.

  • They need to bring them to trial and sentenced to prision. That way it will scare the crap out of others. Hey if Enron scared people and worked, why wouldn't the same thing work for these jackasses.
