The Unreal Development Kit (UDK), Epic Games' free edition of Unreal Engine 3, has been installed by more than 900,000 developers. Powering independent games like "Hawken" and "Sanctum" for PC, and "The Dark Meadow" and "Save Our Sheep" for iOS, its feature set continues to evolve in preparation for the next generation of games. Epic has continued to release major new functionality and improvements to the Unreal Development Kit, with many important new features introduced in recent months. Anyone can check out the Unreal Engine tools for free at www.udk.com/download.

  • @IndieGameDesigner And you get to use a million dollar worth game engine, one of the best out there. Most of the work you'd have to do is already done and the production costs for your game is a lot lower. I find the pricing more than fair.

  • It's nice but the royalty requirements of this engine are outrageous. It equates to 25% tax on each unit sold after crossing the initial $50,000.

  • @ChRiSiMoN Correct.

  • Unreal tournament 3 for ios? (1:26 for proof) thumbs up if they should publish it for us!

  • at 1:10 you will notice that epic games is still using Windows Vista

  • @ncshuriken Know how you feel... 4200....

  • @pokealong1227

    Thats how it SHOULD be!

  • @ncshuriken Yup same problem here. I have so many visual ideas and amazing story plots in my mind, but no real way to put it into a game. Oh well, maybe one day they will simplify it enough to where the gaming market is more competitive, but easier to create games. That way people with the best ideas but not best programming, animating, modeling, ect. skills can still produce amazing games.

  • @pokealong1227

Now all I need is the brain power to turn my visual ideas INTO a game lol. I need to hunt down a guy who knows his programming skills, but finding some1 like that without going through college for a SECOND time, well... That aint gonna be easy!

  • @ncshuriken Exactly my point. They don't make very much money at all unless you create a REALLY good game.. which i think is pretty fair. You are using there game engine after all.

  • @TheZombieDonkey

I'll check it out. Hopefully you can get one for less than 250!

  • @ncshuriken 6990 will do for atlease 3 years :D
