Well good for some history but these old steam trains stink and leave soot all over the joint.Thats why years ago houses around rail lines were cheap as chips.I can remember all the crap and soot bellowing over Canterbury bath's in the mid 1960's,we used to hold our breath and dive underwater to escape the smoke.

Nice Video just hope RTM have 3801 going 4 another 20years. 1s it have come through its summer rebuild 07/08 . Happy steaming .

The NSW Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere will continue operating the 3801 as a tourist train. It won't be a static display in the museum. It was the NSWRTM that saved it from scrap in the 60's and also helped secure funding of $500,000 for its looming boiler overhaul.

Nice video and nice engine! It's a shame that the powers that be want to send this great engine down to the big rust heap at Thirlmere. Why put this engine in a museum!! Bloody stupidity. Leave it with the professional operators that have looked after it for the last 20 years.
