What is Toner? Lancome vs Shiseido Toner Review

This review of Lancome Tonique Douceur and Shiseido The Skincare Hydro-Balancing Softener was requested by SassyxBeazts. One detail I forgot to mention in the video is that adding toner into my skincare routine really helped put me on the track to clear skin. When I had acne (I wouldn't say it was severe, but it was pretty bad) in my teen years, I used to use only cleanser. Then a Clinique sales representative taught me what toner is, and since I've started using it, my skin slowly cleared up.

im using shiseido pureness but it seems... a little weak for my skin.. hmm do you think lancome would work better? for prices... they both seem around the same here in Canada... unless i order online..

@LittleAngel072 ive never tried the pureness line bc the skincare line was gentle but good enough for my oily skin. im scared the pureness line will be too drying. ive tried most of the shiseido products in the skincare line (refer to my skincare routine video if u want). i havent tried lancome skincare products besides the toner so i cant say..

lancome makes a toner specifically for oily skin types called "pure focus". its in a green bottle and has powders in it to absorb excess oil. you should try that instead ;-)

@caffeinequeen209 hmm i told the salesperson i want a toner for oily, acne prone skin and she recommended that at first but then said it might be too strong and a bit drying for my skin bc i don't have that much acne. so she told me to get the tonique douceur instead. maybe ill ask for a sample of the pure focus next time i run out of toner! ;D

Tonique Douceur contains no alcohol, that is why it doesnt cleanse as good as shiseido's one. You can try the tonique eclat clarifying toner, that one cleanse the face and moisturise it too

is your skin oily? I'm going to buy pureness line and I have sensetive but oily skin ( I don't have acne or anything) does cleanser clean well?

I also prefer Shiseido products as well. I've tried many several Lancome products, and the only "advantage" I think they have is with their cosmetics line because it's more well known.

Shiseido doesn't make a toner, they make skin balancing softeners. Softeners are different from toners.

i work at a lancome counter and i would recommend you returning the tonique in exchange for thetonique/d for  pure focus as that toner is meant for oily skin and would suit you best. i have oily skin as well and have had amazing results with my lancome pure focus products. you should also try the pure focus moisturizer but it can only be found at lancome.com. it is a mattifying lotion and really helps manage the oil in my skin. hope this helps....

i actually work for lancome as a beauty advisor and ive worked with them for a year now. pure focus is def. a better choice for your skin. tonique doceure is an alcohol free toner for normal combination skin. def. talk to your beauty advisor and get started on the pure focus line :)
