The Gayatri Mantra

Om bhur bhuvaha svaha
tat savitur varenyam
bhargo devasya dhimahi
dhiyo yo nah prachodayat

Om, we meditate on the spiritual brightness of that most adorable divine Sun, the source of the three planes of existence: the physical, the subtle, and the causal. May this Divine Source enlighten our minds.

The Gayatri is one of the most well known and ancient Vedic mantras, of which volumes have been written. The great Swami Sivananda said: Gayatri makes one powerful and highly intelligent. Gayatri eventually gives liberation or emancipation from the wheel of birth and death. (From his book: "Japa Yoga")

this is the version I like most. It is more authentical. I follow this version, meaning that I imitate the same format. I think it requires more attention and concentration and the vibration gets there! When finished I feel like I had an internal massage all over and really great! No need to go to a spa. this is the way to feel great every day :)

I like male voices for these chants. Maybe it is childhood association, having heard them them said (in context) chanted by our loukika priest. It is not the maleness in the voice as much as the neutrality of the timber I like. Female recitations have too much human personality to them!

Anyhow, I love the clarity of the articulation here.
