We have created this video to let people know about VBS - Vertebral Body Stapling. We chose this treatment over traditional bracing to treat our children's scoliosis. This mimimally invasive surgery is an alternative treatment to traditional bracing for Scoliosis (usually 25 -45 degrees).

  • Thank You for sharing! I had no clue this existed! I had a full spinal fusion with Leuke Rods in 1982. In those times, they didn't try to improve the curve. Only stop it from progressing. My, have times changed! My daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis in 2002. She is almost 11, and we are watching her progression closely. Last checked, she was only 12 degrees. So we are keeping our fingers crossed! Thank You Again for your efforts to educate us all!! Jill

  • Wonderful video. Or daughter is having the VBS surgery next month and this video has helped our family and friends understand what she will be going through. VBS surgery is a great surgery with wonderful results.

  • This has been a miracle for our grandson. Thank you Shriners everywhere. I never realized all they do.

  • My daughter, Sarah, is 16 and wore a brace for 8 years and underwent spinal fusion this past summer. I know that the young man, Nate, in the video lives nearby and was one of the first patients to have this surgery in Boston. We would definitely have considered this option if we had known about it and I am thrilled that patients have another choice. Sarah is Co-Spokesperson for the National Scoliosis Foundation and there is a National Awareness month this June. Best wishes!

  • Wow - snowboarding 7 weeks Post-Op!

I wish this option had been available to my daughter - she was in a brace for 3 years and eventually had spinal fusion. Thanks for the great video!

  • Thanks for sharing your experiences. Good luck!
