@Gruberovito Many thanks for this! Two DIVINE singers!
-
she really is great. we dont have artists like this anymore
-
shes so great. a bit uneven at times but always engaged and im surprised how gentle she was able to sound in the beginning.

Thanks for the correction. I must have had it backwards. I know Sills was originally discussed for this opera. Probably it was thought that Sills would play just the old Miss Havisham. When she dropped out, Riat Shane ended up taking over and doing both roles.
-
This is incorrect. Sills did not want to do both parts. Rita Shane was the only soprano who could perform both roles. She played the young Miss Havisham, and the old Miss Havisham.

it's incredible!! i didn't know that huguenots are so famous in foreign countries!!
-
There is more of her. She has a CD...the only place I know where to get that is at the Eastman School of Music Bookstore.

What the *** was that final note? I checked the piano and I believe it was a high F. I have not heard a sustained high F of this quality since an early recording of Gruberova. Truly amazing. If I recall correctly, Rita Shane sang a lot of Queen of the Nights. No wonder!
WOW WOW WOW! THIS is exciting and beautiful singing! Two extraordinary artists!!! Why aren't there more recordings of Rita Shane??
