he gave up his secular rights out of his free will and compassion. he favors separation of church and state. he is in favor of true human rights. he leads by example. so modest. so true. i bow to this man. his teachings are liberating. and not just for buddhists. that's why i feel he speaks the naked truth equally valid for any person, religious or not.

also Cavanaugh asks "can humans be ethical without religion?" to which he replies quickly "yes, certainly." Imagine the pope saying that.

If every human being on this earth were to sit down and really listen to His Holiness' wisdom for an hour and resolve a few personal doubts by asking His Holiness questions, I believe the world would be a much more peaceful place. Long Live His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama.

your placing your assumptions on external human made problems/ fears. Monks wish to transcend these insignificant issues by giving up the things in life that accelerate our dependence and attachment to them. You should realize that the true cause to suffering, sadness, and fear is due to inner emotions and thoughts. Monks wish to conquer these emotions and fears, which takes great discipline and commitment. Hardly what i would call a "coward" pursuit.

the nature of life doesnot change. any obsession is misery and most people live in that so buddha says life is misery but he shows science to come out of that that is religion not buddhist or hindu or islam or christianity or any other. when we have to sacrifice the body in eventuality of death and darkness is so prevalent than where is eternal joy. First thing to know is that what we know and what we dont than we create possibility for light

we have a nett profit of 16 billion US dollar every year, and the tissue and papers u r using might be ours. If u want to be a wise speaker, U SHOW IT FIRST IN UR LIFE BY BECOMING SUCCESSFUL, THEN U SPEAK AND TEACH ! IF UR LIFE DOES NOT HAVE ANY PRESTIGIOUS SUCCESS, BUT ONLY SUFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES, U DOES NOT HAVE THE LEVEL TO TALK AND TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL.
