Los Angeles voice actor and impressionist Jeff McNeal with a sincere, but difficult attempt at my first Brian Hyland tribute cover. Written and originally performed by Curtis Mayfield, this was a great hit for Brian Hyland in 1970 and turned out to be a much harder song to capture than I thought going in. So, hats off to Mr. Hyland, for sure. Not one of my best, but I gave it my best shot. I also had to create all the backing vocals on this one as well. I also tossed in the finger cymbals for good measure on backing track in the first part of the song. The main backing vocals were created in real time with the Digitech Vocalizer Live 5. The chanting vocals in the background beginning at 1:45 (probably my favorite part of the whole song) were creating separately by me and mixed into the otherwise excellent backing track. Couldn't bear to leave them out. Thanks for listening and I hope the final result is pleasing. Cheers.
Yes..a very hard song indeed..but you did an excellent job my boy !
