This is a 1957 Zenith model Z3004R using the 17Z22Q chassis. Its the first TV to use the "practical" remote control, the space command 200. There were two previous remote systems, both developed by Zenith. They were the "Lazybones" and the "Flash-Matic". The "Space command" is considered the first practical of remote controls and the technology was used until the early 1980's. I restored this set back in '99. In this video, you can watch the best TV show of the 1950's, the Honeymooners. This particular episode is from '56 and this TV was built in October of '56 when the space command was introduced! This episode is part 1 of 3 of the "$99000 answer".

  • You,pal, are an absolute genius! An honorable "BOOMPH!" for your dedication and restoration of your Zenith and for taking us Gleason fans to the moon the right way. Bravo!

  • Thanks man, I appriciate it. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Whats wrong with it? I assume you are referring to the audio of this video? Or is this a general opinion on the music selections I posted?

  • thanks for posting This is incredible tech of its time!

  • Wow, talk about uncanny,my Grandfather had this very model and Gleason was always on when we came over on Sunday nights in the early 60's. Although I was was very little at the time, seeing Gleason again on this Zenith is like taking me back in a time machine. Anselme also had a floor model Zenith radio next to his favorite chair and his house always smelled of old paneling and cigars. He had an old GE monitor fridge w/ legs in the kitchen and he drove a '49 ford to the metal shop every day.

  • The greatest episode from the greatest sitcom ever.......thank you, Joe in NH.

  • I really love these old TV's, great picture and love your choice of shows. Thanks.

  • Ralf is the biggest thing on t.v.

  • This is great! Good to see some of the old TV sets restored. My parents had a Philco they bought when they were married in 1956 I think we had it until 1969 when I was 12 years old. Most of my early TV viewing was in black and white.

  • It's very nice to see these old sets functioning perfectly! Thanks for all your hard work.

  • @drh4683 This is somewhat awkward. The comment is dated two years ago, I was still a little kid.

  • @vap420 You need an RF adapter and a 75/300 ohm adapter in order to view ANY game system or ANY video equipment. You can find those adapters at Radio Shack. I'd rather use an LCD TV instead of a tube TV where you're getting PART of the whole picture.
