Please rate and comment. Additional songs in my user channel. Megaman 9 music played back on home-brew regression fm synthesizer. 3 Songs in this volume: Magma Man Plug Man Tornado man Stay tuned and also, REQUEST A SONG!
I didn't realize this was not in the comments, but i do not as a general rule write my own music. It's not my style, im better at making the instruments that play it back, than the music itself.
post-mm3 genesis versions is always something i wanted to hear. This is great to be able to hear some mm9. The only problem i see is that it sounds to elaborated for a Genesis (but i don't think it was your purpose).
Well, I do want it to sound more elaborated than a genesis if the midi file (from which this was sourced) uses more channels than a Genesis allows... But if you use only 4-6 channels it can sound just like a sega if the proper instruments are used (old midis work especially well). I merely produced (created the instruments) for this music, the midi I cannot claim as my own. I have to go through and see what all the original midi sequence authors were when i have time and give them due credit.
Actually, the FM sounds used in this melody arrangement of the Megaman 9 stage themes sounds like it is on the Sharp X-68000 computer system. If you do not know what the Sharp X-68000 computer is, look it up on Google.
The Sharp 68K had a sound chip based on FM synthesis [as did sega mega drive and a few other systems of the time, albeit not always the exact same exact chip, still FM nevertheless ]
To quote Wikipedia on query of 'Sharp X-68000 computer'....
[begin quote] Sound is produced internally via Yamaha's then top-of-the-line YM2151 FM synthesizer and a single channel OKI MSM6258V for PCM.
[end quote]
Nevertheless, this melody does indeed bear semblance of the x68k's FM music character.
