I wonder how many have we summed up of this track so far... When UFO pumped out, I had a feeling everyone would adhere to this track, moreso than the the exquisite and flaky sound of Interdimensional Voyage. It's because this track is more of a journey and an ambient, a landscape and a spacescape, the diary of dreams and hopes and, alas, the ultimate destination. It is far more climatic than the sum of its (peculiarly little) parts.

There's certain types of tracks you just can't render out in the other genre, or the other one after. There's tracks you can't take too much liberty when arranging. I initially thought Fires of Hokkai had followed those foundations, but I've been roundly mistaken. This freakin' composition works with any kind of beat and sound, it's pretty dynamic, and that's pretty dandy.

PARADOX however, he made one of the most loyal portrayals I've ever lent an ear to in this intake. The developing layer scheme, which progresses in a pleasant manner to the ear, keeps adding sound over sound as the minute goes by. It's somewhat interesting to listen to this track grow.
Thus, I conclude this is what ZUN would've come up with if he had a handful more of synth mechanisms at his hands if he were to remake this one.
As a fan of breakcore rhythm, I can realize the amount of talent behind making these considerable heavy beats merge with such an elegant and peaceful environment, and that is also something pretty rad, if I must say so myself.

In the end, we are taken across the ethereal roads of a lost Makai; paths of dreams and nightmares and the rhapsody from beyond the world as we know it, salvation or destruction and the final judgment, a place beyond youkai and humans, into the outshining world of dharma.
