Just a quick view from the Bigfoot Highway (96) onto Jefferson State Highway (Indian Creek Rd) or as I call it "No Monument Drive". This area is remote and rugged and looks like a great place to live.
We were on a 2000 mile trip to Lassen volcano and the Oregon coast via the back roads on a CBR600F2, KTM 950 Adventure and my Ape Capo on TKC-80 knobbies. Awesome roads from the 36 to 3 to 299 to 96 to here.
Side note; Well meaning (maybe), but ignorant efforts are being made to establish a "hands off" status of some of the local settled lands and grazing areas.
Friends, we need to be informed about what is being done to the (recently financially impoverished) communities of southern Oregon and northern California by some city types who think they have the right answers. The locals have chosen to live in the wilderness, some going back several generations for the simple reason that it is healthy. They take great care of their land because their lives depend on it.
It isn't fair for a "non-profit" (whose members all get a healthy salary), which doesn't have a clue as to the needs of the local economy, to interject their opinion as to the land use.
Obviously, I agree with the NO MONUMENT stance of the locals who live here. I'm just a first time visitor and decided to look into what the "no monument" signs on every driveway was all about. Thanks for watching, do some research and make your own judgement.
