Deut. 12:29-31 Tells us we are not to inquire or even imitate the ways or the religions of the pagan communities around us. This is why we dress, eat and act differently from the gentiles around us, not only because The Torah command it, but because of some of the traditions we have developed to help keep us from assimilating into the Goyish cultures that surround us in exile. This is speaking from a social aspect, not an academic one. If you are not someone called to missions and if you are not DEEPLY rooted and mature in the Torah then I wouldnt even study world religions.

You know how people are trained to detect counterfeit bills? Do they examine counterfeit bills all day? No, they count and handle the real thing day in and day out and after a sufficient amount of time goes by the trainers will throw in a fake bill and the trainee who has handled the real deal so long they know instantly that something doesnt feel right and almost every time they can detect the fraud out of a stack of bills.
