Subuhi Jiwani/2009/India/5'4"
The first Queer Azaadi March (QAM) in Mumbai took place on August 16, 2008. It started at August Kranti Maidan and ended at Chowpatty. People who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, hijra, transgender, kothi, panthi and intersex came together under the umbrella term queer to register their protest against the colonial legacy of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises same-sex intercourse, among other things. They were joined by friends, family and supporters of queer rights in this public celebration of diversity and queer identity. This five-minute video documents the march.
We Philippine gay lesbian bisexual and transgender salute India human rights movement. Go with Pride!!!
