From NFL Films "Lost Treasures" series comes this piece on one of the most distinctive voices of my lifetime -- John Facenda. As a voiceover talent myself, I always admired John Facenda's work, and consider him one of the greatest voices of all time. (I make no claims to the copyright of this film. It is owned by NFL Films. I only put it up here as a tribute to John Facenda.)

Rest in Peace Steve Sabol. You made the NFL of my childhood memories something that I still cherish to this day. Thanks to you and your dad, Ed. You have my eternal thanks.

Facenda could've read from the Philly phonebook for 30 minutes a week and drawn a sizable audience. A voice like no other.

John Facenda was the "one" and only "one" voice of the NFL! His voice contained all the emotions of NFL football!

John Facenda probably knew nothing about football but the drama he brought to the audio portion of the films was a 99%. The rest, all combined, were a 1%.
